Deputies are investigating Wednesday after discovering and seizing over 2,300 marijuana plants in various stages of growth from a home in San Bernardino.
The illegal marijuana operation was discovered at 8068 Sunnyside Avenue around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office. Deputies were in the area responding to other calls when they received information about the marijuana.
Camilo Farias-Rodrigues, 33, was found in the backyard tending to the plants and was taken into custody without resistance. It was later discovered that he was being paid to care for the plants by an unknown person.
Farias-Rodrigues was not in compliance with California medical marijuana laws and is expected to be charged with the cultivation of marijuana, according to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office.
The property owner may also face civil and/or criminal charges at a later date.
Farias-Rodrigues was booked and given a bail of $25,000. He will appear in court within the next few days to be arraigned.
