The vehicle went into the waterway about 12:30 p.m. off Highway 395 near Avenal Street, according to Officer Matt Hunt of the California Highway Patrol’s Victorville office.
A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department dive team was looking for the driver of the vehicle, Hunt said.
Video from the scene showed a silver vehicle floating in the aqueduct, and at least one helicopter scanning the area overhead.
The sheriff’s dive team commander said on Twitter that the search for the driver would resume Thursday.
