A 7-year-old girl who was apparently abducted by her grandmother from the family’s home in Highland on Tuesday was found safe Wednesday afternoon by police in Pomona.

Jasmine “Jazzie” Felix and her grandmother Teresa Arias were located around 4:45 p.m., according to Lt. Chuck Becker with the Pomona Police Department.

A tip from a Pomona business owner led police to the pair, according to a news release from the department.

Earlier in the day, the girl’s parents had left a missing flier at Samos Burgers on South Garey Avenue.

When the owner later saw the flier, he realized Arias and Felix had been in the restaurant earlier in the day and called the family, the release said.

Family members went to the location and began driving around the immediate area looking for the missing pair.

They finally spotted the girl and her grandmother at an apartment complex in the 500 block of East Phillips Boulevard, but then lost sight of them, the release stated.

The family immediately called Pomona police.

Responding officers found Arias and Felix walking on Phillips Boulevard near Gary Avenue.

Pomona officers immediately detained Arias and contacted Highland city detectives, who reunited Felix with her parents.

Arias was questioned and later arrested and booked on suspicion of kidnapping.

Her bail was set at $1 million.

On Tuesday, the girl’s parents had left her in the care of her 63-year-old grandmother, but returned from work to find both missing from their home in the 6600 block of Victoria Avenue at about 6 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

Arias called the parents about an hour later and told them she took Jasmine and was never going to bring her back, according to the news release.

Authorities said Arias did not have a vehicle and would be using public transportation.

Investigators believed Arias may be in the Pomona area trying to secure money for a bus ride to Madera.

Arias had been staying with family in Highland since November, 2015, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators were unaware of any other family or friends of Arias in the local area.

Anyone with additional information was encouraged to contact detectives from the Highland City Sheriff’s Station at 909-425-9793.
