Officials announced Friday that three men have been apprehended after they allegedly robbery a jewelry store in Rancho Cucamonga, with one of them pistol-whipping the store's owner in the process.
Authorities initially identified Ontario resident Christopher Lamar, 28, and Fontana resident Angel Overa, 23, as the men who robbed Gemma’s Jewelers in the Terra Vista Town Center mall Saturday afternoon, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced Friday.
Lamar was arrested Wednesday in San Bernardino, while Olvera was taken into custody Thursday in Rancho Cucamonga. Both were booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
In an update Friday evening, officials added David Goffney, a 34-year-old resident of Ontario, as the third person implicated in the robbery. He was arrested in Riverside on Friday.
SBSD Capt. Ernie Perez added on Twitter that three guns were seized in the last two days.
"Outstanding work to close out this robbery & assault!," he wrote.
Margarita Pereda, who owns the jewelry store, told KTLA that she was hospitalized for several days after the attack left with an open wound on the back of her head. Surveillance footage captured the savage beating.
"I was bleeding a lot, I was thinking I’m not going to make it because there was blood everywhere,” she said.
Despite feeling like the robbers, who were dressed as an Amazon delivery man and a security guard, were "ready to kill" her, Pereda said she has no intention of shutting down her business.
“I’m not gonna be afraid to close my doors. No no no no no,” she said. “I’m keeping going, sir.”
