A 40-year-old man was arrested after allegedly offering to pay a 15-year-old boy for a sex act and then following him around a public library in Rancho Cucamonga, police said Thursday.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. Tuesday, when the teen was approached in the second-floor bathroom of the Archibald Library, at 7368 Archibald Ave.
Sean O’Farrell asked the boy his age and some “sexual question” and then offered to pay the teen for a sex act, according to a news release issued Thursday by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, part of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy refused and walked away, but O’Farrell allegedly followed him out of the bathroom and into different areas of the library.
The teen, afraid, contacted a library staff member who in turn called police, the news release stated.
Responding deputies interviewed O’Farrell and then arrested him. He was booked at west Valley Detention Center on suspicion of contacting a minor to commit a sexual offense.
“O’Farrell was found to be in possession of several different library cards and is suspected of committing similar crimes in other jurisdictions,” the news release stated.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at 909-477-2800.
